Welcome to Wally Spice Photography, our new hybrid website/blog!

We hope you ENJOY!

Wally Spice and Julie Proudfoot are a mother daughter team  of creative, fun and easy to get along with women photographers , artistically capturing the most precious moments of your life for almost 20 years. The name “Wally”  is short for Waltraud,  a German name  that no one can pronounce here. I was born there and still speak it. <BR><BR>

We work out of my in home studio in the I 696/75 area of metropolitan Detroit  and usually work within an hour’s radius of here but are also available for travel.

As women photographers we understand the many aspects of weddings, including the emotional undercurrents and hectic nature of the day.  We are there for you on a one on one personalized bases throughout the entire process – from our first meeting, to helping  you plan your day, making your day as stress free as possible as we work together, and then personally designing the album to tell the story, with your input.

Our style is very contemporary and mixes the best of the traditional with lots of true photojournalistic candids, and our own in-between style that is relaxed, fun and romantic. We also love to add a more edgy fashion, styalized touch!
We are there to capture the emotions, activities, and details of your special day in a fun, natural, creative and artistic manner. We want you to remember how you felt, not just how fantastic you and everyone else there looked . This is your special day,  ENJOY!!

We have also been published often over the years in local and national magazines.

Wally and Julie were honored at the 2009 Detroit Professional Photographers Association banquet

Wally won the 2009 Album of the Year award and both  Wally and Julie won various print competition awards.

About Wally and Julie

Wally was born in Germany, and has a nice German name that no one can pronounce (Waltraud) – so “Wally” adopted her. Even though it has been many years ago, she still speaks it.

Julie is her daughter  and  they work together as a team out of Wally’s in home studio in the I-75 and I-696 area of Metro Detroit. We have had our wedding photography business for almost 20 years and love it. We concentrate on our local area within an hours radius from here, but love to travel and are available for destination weddings.

Besides weddings, we also photograph bellies and babies, children, families and are especially excited about our growing work with high school seniors.

We  have been very active over the years in the Professional Photographers Associations around the country as well as locally and state wide. Wally was the president of the Detroit Professional photographers Association (DPPA) in 07-08 and Julie will be in 2012. Wally currently serves on the board for Professional Photographers of Michigan (PPM) and  both active in Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International group (WPPI) . Both  have won awards for our photography, album designs and service to the associations.
It is so very important to stay current with the cutting edge trends in our industry, help educate other photographers to uphold professional standards and promote learning and growth. We have to continuously re-invent ourselves and what we offer today’s bride’s and consumers.

Julie  has 2 sons 14 and 16 (Steven and Aaron). They live in the Sterling Heights area.
Wally’s youngest daughter Tracy lives in Alaska and she loves to visit there – she has a 3 1/2 year old son named Gunther. Be sure to take a look at some of the categories of older posts that show our love of travel, especially Alaska and Florida.

Photography is our passion – not just what we do for a living! It is what we do anytime – especially when we travel. Alaska is Wally’s favorite place on earth – breathtaking unspoiled scenery and a slower pace of life! She tries  to visit as often as she can. Julie loves to travel too – especially Florida – where  has photographed  weddings and portrait sessions. She has photographed a destination wedding in Jamaica and just loved it!  We are available for destination weddings – give us a call!
