Julie helps photograph 2 weddings in Aspen Colorado
Posted on September 20, 2007
Julie had the honor to help photograph two weddings in Aspen over Labor Day weekend. Last year at DPPA, it was our job to find photographers to speak to our organization. We brought in Travis Broxton of Broxton Art, in Colorado, to speak. He did a great job and we loved his work!! Julie asked him when she could come photograph with him and after seeing our work he told her anytime!
Travis is a very successful, high end, popular photographer in Colorado, this was a great experience for Julie to broaden her horizons and learn from one of the best.
Both of the below weddings were held at breathtaking sites in Aspen!!!!

These images were taken around Aspen and Denver.
When we were in Aspen for the two weddings, Travis’s wife Pat and her friend Carolyn accompanied us. That is the three of us girls in the Aspen images below. Travis’s wife Pat is a great cook and after a couple of long days of shooting it was great to have home cooking. Pat and Carolyn explored Aspen by taking some great hikes, etc. while we were photographing the weddings.
Travis took Julie around Denver on her last day there and took some great images of her around town.

On Sat August 25th Julie photographed the wedding of Katherine and John with the help of Shawn Walters and John Glass. They met downtown and had some time to do some fun “Urban” photography at Comerica Park and surrounding areas in Detroit. Then they had a beautiful ceremony at the Word of Faith Church in Southfield and went on the reception at Sycamore Hills. The grounds here were also very picturesque and they were able to get some more fun romantics. A great reception followed.

On Saturday August 25th we had 2 weddings. Wally, with the help of her brother Gunther and Julie’s son Aaron, photographed the wedding of Jessy and Matt at Tina’s Country House. Everything was a tt he one location which made it convenient. They have added a lot of nice landscaping which was great. The ceremony was beautiful outside – their little 1 year old son stole the show when he walked down the aisle by himself in his tiny little tux. We had a lot of fun with the romantic images with them and the wedding party. The following reception was a lot of fun also.

On Friday August 24th we photographed a smaller intimate morning wedding at the Henry Ford Estate. The ceremony on the terrace facing the meadow was breathtaking. We made our rounds around the grounds of the estate with the wedding party and also many of the guests. Everyone enjoyed this and we got a lot of fun and great romantic images. They concluded the great day with a delicious luncheon in the music room.

Erin and Shane Engagement session at the capitol Building in Lansing 8-21-07

Erin and Shane met in Lansing when they worked as pages in the House of Representatives in Lansing. So an engagement session there was very special. They even had special permission to get on the floor of the House of Representatives. Julie photographed this with the help of our good friend and great photographer and mentor Claude Jodoin. Everyone had a great time and ended up with many fabulous images. They even got much applause from people peeking out of windows when they were jumping on the steps outside. What a great idea. The weather even co-operated beautifully.

What’s going on in Alaska?

Last week Tracy took her boys to the Alaska State Fair – and they won a first prize blue ribbon! Rick and Gunther entered the Carhart Fashion show as a father-son team. With a cute baby and a silly man – how could they loose! Rick won a warm heavy Carhart coat that he will get a lot of use out of.

They also had a moose wander through their property.

I also have the many images from the Alaska trip, the last 2 weeks in July, on my Flickr account. I have a site that gives all the sites where various family members/photographers have uploaded images – take a look at http://www.wallyspicephotography.com/AlaskaJuly07.htm
With my FLickr account it is easiest to look at any sets you would like – smaller groups – these are listed on the site above.
