June 19th was the end of the year banquet for the Detroit Professional Photographers Association. held in Levy’s restaurant in Ford Field in Detroit. Our theme was “Mad Hatters” and we all had a lot of fun with our “hats”! Over 100 people enjoyed the event, we had a great dinner and then went on to our presentations. After Past President John Glass made his outgoing speech he handed the gavel to me and I became the new President of the association.  What an honor – I was both thrilled and excited and a little nervous as I made my acceptance speech. I then got to introduce the new board of directors – we’re going to have a great year – as we now all have different “hats”!  Julie is now also an elected board member and It’s great to have her on the board with me. I was thrilled to have family there to cheer me on – my daughter Julie, my brother Gunther and his wife Sandy and my brother & sister-in-law Pat and Steve. Hat’s off to the new board!

These were our own candids – I’ll add some official group photos etc when I get them.

Monica’s Quinceanera June 9th

Posted on June 19, 2007

One of our fellow photographers from the Detroit Professional Photographers Association – Fred Mora, just had his daughter Monica celebrate her Quincienera. This is a touching and elaborate Mexican celebration, on her 15th birthday to commemorate her transition of becoming a young lady from a little girl. Julie and I helped with the photography and enjoyed learning about the new traditions.

Judy and Frank June 2, 2007

We photographed Judy and Frank’s great wedding on June 2nd. The ceremony was at the beautiful St Peter’s Church in Mount Clemens. Then we traveled to Belle Isle in Detroit and had so much fun with everyone at the fountain, the casino building, the bridge by the willow trees and even the beach. The day ended with a great reception at Gino’s Surf in Harrison Township where everyone had a great time. The rain even held off until we were safe and inside at the reception.

This last week Image Quix has had some problems with their servers and it came to my attention that you got an error message when trying to link to the site from my "Event Proofing" menu tab.  I checked with them and they had me change and update to a new link.  That is done now – I apologize for the inconvenience – please check it again – it should be working now!!

Thanks – Wally

My Whale image gets famous

Posted on June 3, 2007

This weekend is a non profit  EMS conference in Anchorage Alaska – they are using my whale image on  their brochure cover and their web site.  I donated this to them and was noted as a “Silver” donor for a contribution with a $1000 value; I also got full credit.  I was thrilled and honored that they wanted to use my image.  Hope the conference went well.  These are links to their sites if anyone is intersted.

Julie and I photographed an engagement session with Patrice and Barry at the Henry Ford Estate last Sunday. Barry brought his own Model T, so we sure had fun with it.  It was extremely sunny so Julie was able to do a lot of very cool infra red images. We look forward to their wedding at the Estate this July 14th – coming up soon. We really love working at the Estate.
