What’s going on in Alaska

My daughter Tracy has always had long beautiful naturally curly hair (they used to call her “Tree” – especially being so tall)- But with Gunther pulling on it and having to put it up for her work as a nurse, she finally decided to have it cut to shoulder length.
She did donate the cut hair to “Locks of Love” – this is a great organization that makes wigs from it for children suffering from Cancer who are loosing their hair. What a great cause!
Happy Birthday Tracy – she just turned 32!

Travis Broxton – our speaker at DPPA last Tuesday has a great web site and is also starting to run a blog – he talked about his trip to Michigan and even used my collages (in post below) as images from his experience here – I'm flattered.
His site is: www.broxtonart.com – you can get to his site or blog from here – Check it out -
Travis Broxton from Denver Colorado speakes at DPPA

On May 15, our Detroit Professional Photographer’s Association hosted a great speaker from Denver Colorado – Travis Broxton. In his program called “Rocky Mountain High” he talked about his journey to success as a high end wedding photographer and was so open to sharing his knowledge and experience. Julie and I picked him up at the airport and had the opportunity to show him a little bit of our Detroit – we all had so much fun. Kim joined us for a great dinner at Bahama Breeze before the program and after wards several of us went out to Champs for a Little more conversation and fun. We have such great opportunities at organizations like this to learn from great talent like Travis from across the country.
This was our last speaker of the year – As Vice President and as President elect I have been the one instrumental in bringing in the speakers and making sure everything runs smoothly with their programs. I sure have enjoyed it and will miss this aspect of it. We only have the Banquet left this June and this is where I will begin my office as the new president. Wow – I am so excited – and yet nervous too.

Oakland County OES bus trip to Holland Michigan
Posted on May 10, 2007
On May 8th I joined the group of Eastern Star members from Chapters throughout Oakland County to travel to Holland Michigan for the tulip festival on a bus tour. I really enjoyed taking photos of the many phenomenal tulips. We were thrilled to also take a side trip to the Holland Light House – which looked especially wonderful in the foggy mist. I have always enjoyed lighthouses throughout the years.

Rebecca and John May 5, 2007 at the Henry Ford Estate

We had a great wedding this last Sat. The weather could not have been any better – the tulips and some ornamental trees were in bloom, the lilacs were just coming out, the water at the falls was high and the grounds were alive with spring. We had so much fun with Rebecca and John and their man of honor and best man, making our normal tour of the grounds to see all the great spots in the least amount of time. Their beautiful ceremony was on the terrace, the dinner in the former “Pool” area was delicious as always and the reception a lot of fun (not to mention the fantastic dessert bar). It was so nice to be back at the Estate, it felt like we were back “home”, with everyone we had become so close with over the many years that we have been photographing there. We loved it.
