DPPA Kick Off Program September 19th

Posted on September 26, 2006

A huge warm THANK YOU to John Solano and Jay Goldman, our Kick- off wedding  speakers in September.  They were great and shared their different avenues to running their very successful studios, both specializing in weddings, in the Los Angelas area of California. Jay’s  personal flash attachment on the helmet at the end was priceless.
Clint McLennen and I picked them up at the airport the evening before and took them out to a great Michigan welcome dinner where we all got to know each other a little and got to talk about the ways of doing business and having fun here in Michigan and there in California.  So very interesting, so much we can all learn from each other!
Tom Hicks, from JD Color Lab  was our Early Bird Speaker, talking about what makes a great merit print. We had a great crowd for a great evening.
Our President John Glass and I were honored to present them with their cerificates of Appreciation.
Thanks Julie for taking our “California Guys” back to the airport the next morning.

My brother in law Steve was honored September 21st with a reception at the Berkley Masonic Temple.  He is presently serving the Order Of the Eastern Star as a Grand Representative to Oklahoma in Michigan. He is a big U 0f M football fan so we decided on the theme of a tailgate party with lots of Maize and blue and football decorations. Our Worthy Matron Faith  did a fantastic job planning this. About 100 guests came attired in their favorite team colors.  I was honored to give the tribute to him and kept it lighthearted and funny. My grandson Aaron played “Hail to the Victors”on his base and Steven played a song on the dulcimer. We had quite a lot of family there – his wife Pat, their sons Eric and Todd, my Ex Russ, Julie, her boys, and myself. It was a lot of fun!
Now, asking these flolks to do the wave was a bit much though!

The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic affiliated service group that both women and men can belong to. I have been involved in this for many years and I am also their statewide official photographer, photographing their statewide conventions every year.

Elen and Ezra September 17th

Posted on September 25, 2006

Julie and Brian had a beautiful outdoor wedding for Elen and Ezra on Sunday the 17th of September – after they left my wedding.  What a gorgeous park – This was in the Manchester area, south west of Ann Arbor – wish that was closer, we’d use it for all kinds of outdoor sessions.  The romantics images in the park were stunning – the light was awesome.  A small intimate dinner followed the ceremony – with BBQ salmon – how cool.

Katie and Tom September 16

Posted on September 25, 2006

On Saturday September 16th we photographed the wedding of Katie and Tom. We started out at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Southgate where everyone was getting ready and then headed out to the quaint white chapel at Heritage Park in Taylor. Balloons were released after the ceremony which I had not seen in a long time. That was fun.  We loved roaming around the gorgeous grounds for the romantic images – especially the covered bridge and old mill. Tom is a firefighter in South Lyon and Katie is a paramedic there – so we took the limo for a long ride out to the S. Lyon Fire Stations – that was awesome.  I love it when we get to add locations that are personal to the bride and groom.  The kids sure loved it also.  We headed back to a very original themed reception at Crystal Gardens in Southgate.  It was a “Moulon Rouge”  theme – very cool!

Malou and Jules – September 8

Posted on September 23, 2006

We really enjoyed the wedding for Malou and Jules on the 8th of this month.  Starting out at the beautiful Gesu Church in Detroit and ending up at the magnificent historical Meadowbrook Hall in Rochester. The grounds and gardens are so  gorgeous, the weather was great, and the romantics-images taken there were a lot of fun and turned out awesome.  After an elegant dinner, the reception in the hall downstairs had everyone on the dance floor and having a blast.

September Weddings

Posted on September 18, 2006

September is an extremely busy month for us with 8 great weddings. Please bear with us if we are running a little behind in getting some collages up to spotllight each of them here on the blog.  We aim for about a week after the wedding and then try to get the wedding on-line about a month after the wedding if that is included in their coverage.

Besides the 2 great weddings that we have already featured here for this month , we did a beautiful wedding Friday September 8th with Mariloo and Julius 9 Or Malou and Jules) at Gesu Church in Detroit, and then the reception followed at the historic Meadowbrook hall in Rochester.

Last weekend we  photographed a wedding Saturday Sept 16 for Karie and Tom at Heritage Park in Taylor, stopped at the S. Lyon Fire Department for fun romantics and ended with a  great reception at Crystal Gardens downriver.
Sunday the 17th  we started out at the Detroit Yacht Club with Misty and Todd.  I stayed to finish the reception with the help of my brother Gunther. Julie and Brian went on to another great wedding for Elen and Ezra at a beautiful park in the Manchester area.

We also have 2 separate weddings on Sat September 30th.

Amy and Ken Sunday September 3

On the Sunday of Labor Day weekend we really enjoyed the wedding of Amy and Ken – held at the beautiful Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.  The weather co-operated so well and we were able to hold the moving ceremony on the fabulous grounds,  under the Huppa beautifully handcrafted by Amy and her mother.  An elegant  black tie reception followed inside. Congratulations to Amy and Ken and their families, it was a fantastic wedding.

The Labor Day weekend was very busy  for us – with 2 fantastic weddings. On Saturday September 2 we enjoyed the terrific wedding of Lauren and Aaron – they met and enjoyed some romantic fun on the grounds of the beautiful Country Club of Detroit in the Grosse Point area.  We got out there just before it started to sprinkle.  The church was the historic Grosse Pointe Memorial Church close by.  Then back to a fabulous black tie reception at the country Club. Congratulation Lauren and Aaron  – it was a great wedding!

Nature’s Lesson – my Hibiscus Plants

Posted on September 10, 2006

hibiscus plants

In July and August of every year, the pride and joy of my front rock garden are the beautiful hibiscus plants with their huge white dinner plate size flowers.  Unfortunately this July they were totally cut down – by mistake from someone helping me with the garden – the stalks were already 2-3 feet high.  I was so disappointed! But – this August – the stalks started growing again – and at the end of August, beginning of September I have beautiful blooming plants again. As long as the roots are intact – when outside forces cut you down, you can boom again! What a beautiful lesson from nature.
