Web site update – “As Published”

Posted on August 28, 2006

We have just uploaded a new, completely updated section for the "As Published" section of our main web site – It is now much easier to read and includes the latest articles and photos we have had published.  Julie and Brian have been working so hard on this and it looks great – Check it out!!

Over the years we have always been fortunate to be published in the local bridal magazines as well as nationally in other state's bridal publications.  We  submit our work to these publications on a regular bases. The editors have even called us to ask for certain images to go along with articles  – which we always try our best to oblige (and they have access to photographers all over the country). So if you want to look like the brides in the magazines – come to a  photographer that often gets published in them!!

We had a great wedding to photograph last weekend at the beautiful Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion. Rain threatened the day early on but cleared up beautifully by the time we were ready to get started. Wendi and Bill had an intimate ceremony on the 18th Green – a place very dear to them as they are active members and avid golfers. There was a piper to escort them in and the ceremony ended with the release of butterflies  We were able to get some golf carts for some great romantics on the historic and breathtakingly beautiful course. An elegant and fun reception followed

August DPPA Speaker – Michael Redford

Posted on August 21, 2006

As President Elect of the Detroit Professional Photographers Association, I work with the speakers that I lined up last year to make sure all goes well .   Michael Redford, a very successful portrait photographer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was our speaker August 15th.  It was a great  program, co-sponsored by PPM – The Professional Photographers of Michigan – as the second stop in their tour of visiting all the affiliates across the state.  I was honored to introduce him, and present him with his PPA (Professional Photographers of America) Merit..  John Glass, our currect President, is also shown with us.  We have a great line up coming up this year – check it out at www.dppa.net.

An on Location Family Session

Posted on August 17, 2006

On Sunday August 13th Julie and I photographed the family of Sarah and Danny and their 2 darling children – Cole and Lily.  Sarah is the sister of Mary – one of our brides from last year – she joined us also. We did a lot in their back yard in familiar settings for the kids and then moved on to a great playground in Northville. It was a lot of fun trying to keep up with them.

80th Birthday Party

Posted on August 17, 2006

On Friday August 11th Julie photographed an 80th Birthday party at the beautiful Oakhust Country Club in Clarkston. What a great chance for a family to all get together to celebrate.  If we have the date open,  this is always something we are also willing to photograph.  Happy Birthday!

Saturday August 5, Nichole and Jacob

Posted on August 13, 2006

The wedding of Nichole and Jacab on Saturday, August 5th took place at the spectacular. elegant and opulent  lobby of the Fox theater in Detroit. Wow! The setting was absolutely breathtaking and everyone enjoyed it. Nicole and Jacob loved to see their names on the famous marquis.  There was a Tiger game going on -so it was fun to be in the middle of all the excitement.  We did get to walk across  Woodward for some fun photos by the Tiger.  They took a party bus to Hart Plaza for some fun by the riverfront. A great display of fireworks, put on by the tigers that won, topped off the evening.

Friday August 4th – Lauren and James

Posted on August 12, 2006

Lauren and James were married Friday August 4th at the St John’s Golf and Country Club in Plymouth,  The ceremony was in the beautiful chapel and the reception followed in the awesome Atrium.  We love working here and it was great to be back.  They were a fun bunch.  It was great to work with Kurt from Mike Staff Productions as our terrific DJ.  They often use our work in their brochures and marketing and we got some great images for them this time too.  The dance floor was always packed with everyone having fun!

First Weekend in August

Posted on August 12, 2006

The first weekend in August was a busy one for us – but we loved it!  We had weddings both on the Friday and on Saturday.  Both will be featured here.

Last Tuesday Julie and I attended the party to unveil a new Dawn in Bridal Media – they now have one central on line site – Brides.com and local print magazines like “Bride’s Michigan” – formally Michigan Bride.  We have advertised in this publication since about 1997 – when they were “Contemporary Bride”- They have often used our work in their editorial pages and published us a lot – both local and in other states.  We have the image of Wendy and Ed on the Bridge (featured earlier in this blog)  published in the current edition.
The Roostertail looked fabulous, their food and service was awesome.  A big part of the “decorations” were gorgeous bridal couples at stations – from the “One Source Talent” Modeling agency – wearing gowns & tuxes from Maria’s Bridal Salon and President Tuxedo. Mike Staff productions did a great job – their handout in every ones bag featured images we had taken. Our representative Alison Horracks did a great job all the way around.

These are some collages from photos we took – that’s Julie and me in the second one.
