Baby Claire at 6 months

Posted on September 8, 2010

Angela and Kevin were one of our great weddings quite a few years back.  They  had wedding images published in some of the local magazines and even posed for us again for an add our album company was making for a bridal album.

We photographed them when they were highly pregnant and again when darling little Claire was a new born baby and now again at 6 months. Images and slideshows from these sessions are earlier on this blog and on our Face Book Fan page.

These are a few of her at 6 months. We had so much fun with a few of our new props…the tutu and different head bands/flowers, etc.!! The black and gray hat Julie had bought matched The outfit Angela had perfectly!

Our Face Book Fan Page has an album with a few more images  from this session.

Welcome to our new website/blog – we are so excited and proud to finally have it live and active. This is a hybrid between a regular website, adding some flash in the galleries and headers and the WordPress blog I have had since 2006.

Nothing is ever as easy as it seems, and the “merge” was certainly a challenge. A big THANK YOU goes to Chris Hebert, for all her help in actually making it work! A thank you also to Brian and Dawn for all their help in molding the various versions of our websites and blogs over the many years!

Now we will still be tweaking and adding to this site to continue to improve on it and make it grow.  We will also be populating some of the galleries that are not yet complete and hope to soon add another larger section for our growing endeavor in High School Senior photography!

So stay tuned as we continue to grow, but this is a huge step in rebuilding and growing Wally Spice Photography!

Be sure to take a look at our face book fan page, by clicking on the F symbol for some of our interim activity. We will be updating this also.

ENJOY!! and please feel free to give us your input!!

Thank You
Wally and Julie

Julie and Wally just photographed Angela and Kevin’s darling baby Claire when she was just 2 months old at their home. We had already photographed the wedding and the maternity “Belly Pics” and it was great to photograph the new family.

Here are some of the great comments in Face book from Angela

Angela:  OMG, Wally & Julie; you are unbelievable!!!

Angela: It is AWESOME!!! I can’t believe how good the pics turned out….wait, yes I can believe it. You guys are awesome!!

This is the video of our family visit with my daughter Tracy, her husband Rick and my darling 3 year old grandson Gunther in October of 09. We had such a fantastic time – a family BBQ, a day at the Zoo, A day at Blake’s Apple Orchard fun Yard, and lots of time just playing and getting to know each other at home. Lot’s of great toys found from when my older grandson’s, Aaron and Steven, were little (They are 13 & 15 now). This is such a treasured time since they live in Alaska and just can’t get down here as often.

See lots of images from their visit on my Flickr Account – it is best to use the sets on the right.

Julie and I came home from Florida just in time to photograph for the Sunset at the Zoo Charity Event – as we did last year. Our friend and awesome Senior photographer David Humphrey  Joined us this year.   We all offered our photographic services and enjoyed the evening. This year they were very organized and had us at specific areas with a suggested shot list. We even had our own “volunteer’ working with us that got photo releases signed anytime we had a group of people smiling for the cameras.

We also donated a session and some items for the blind auction on behalf of Wally Spice Photography and David also donated 2 session for his company “Masters Photography” in Flint.

The big main auction had to switched to the big tent with weather threatening and still did terrific. I believe they raised at least 100,000 just for that.

As the auction finished the rain really did start and we were all warned to leave because of a huge very severe  storm coming – and it did – rained so hard and so much lightning and thunder.  We were all very much the drowned rats when we finally got to the cars.

It was still a great evening, the rain held off until the end, lots of people still came, the Zoo still raised a lot of money and we had fun. It is great to help such a deserving charity as the Zoo. We love it!

Some photos soon to come!

We designed some folios of our work and entered them into the  Detroit Professional Photographers Association in April in the 3 categories – wedding, portrait and illustrative – for both Julie and myself – Wally.  These were 10×20 single image photos on a hard cardboard backing.  This is the same size as an album spread and can also be framed.  There were quite a few entries; they were judged by our peers and we will find out the results at the DPPA banquet in June.

Family Session at the Henry Ford Estate

Posted on August 1, 2008

At the beginning of July we photographed Rachel and Peter and their family at the beautiful historic Henry Ford Estate. The children were darling and they had brought their Model T along for some great images.  We all had a great time making the rounds of the grounds.

We had donated a Family Session to a silent auction earlier and they were the wining bid.  It is always great to be a small part of helping to preserve this historical landmark.

We recently enjoyed photographing the brand new baby boy of Carrie and Brian at the beautiful Cranbrook gardens. They were one of our wedding couples in 2004 at the Henry Ford Estate.  It is so great to be able to photograph the growing families of our former bridal couples. The baby was only 3 weeks old.

Our bridal couples from past years always get a $50 discount on the session fee (now only $150 to begin with) and we already know each other and can work together great.

Julie photographed the family of Jackie and Scott, with their darling new baby and her parents, and sister. They were our “Sunflower” wedding back in 2004 and their album designs are still on our wedding album menu tab.  We love photographing the growing families of our bridal couples as the years go by.

My trip to Alaska this spring

Posted on May 15, 2008

From April 23rd to May 5th I was fortunate enough to vist my daughter Tracy, her husband Rick and my darling little 18 month old grandson Gunther in Alaska.  It is so hard being so far away and I just had to find the time to visit.  The best part was getting to know little Gunther – he was so expressive and cuddly – beyond adorable and cute!  It is so nice to see him so at home in their gorgeous surroundings in the mountains – what a great place for a little boy to grow up.

I actually did have my laptop and was able to keep up with e-mails and get some work done.  I was able to work on a few album designs on the airplane.

Tracy has a lot of the best of our individual images on her Flickr site at:
www.flickr.com/photos/spicegirl

I have all my collages on my flickr site at:

This is also part of my pod of videos that I made and collected at:

These are just a few – there are too many to post here – needless to say I had a great time and loved every minute.

Ranger Bay – Portrait Session

Posted on December 5, 2007

On November 26th Julie and I did a very unique portrait session for a very unique little boy and his parents.  Ranger Bay is turning 3 and he is a very good little dirt bike rider. His dad and family has all been into racing and Ranger is destined to go to the racing circuit. His whole world revolves around racing and driving his dirt bike – even if it still has training wheels when he drives it. You can tell this is the world that makes this family very happy.  It was very interesting.  His mom is a friend of Patty’s, whose wedding we just photographed  in September.

Heather and Jeff October 27, 2007

Posted on December 4, 2007

On October 27th we photographed the beautiful wedding of Heather and Jeff. The ceremony was at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak and then on to the historic Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston. The weather was cold and windy, but the fall color was fabulous and we got some terrific romantic photographs with them outside while we could.  The reception was a lot of fun.

Sharon and Jason Family Session

Posted on December 4, 2007

On November 17th we photograpahed a family sesson for Sharon and Jason and their little girl Audry at the Detroit Zoo.  We started in the Butterfly House, then the Bird Avery and even tried some outside. WE had a lot of fun and got some great images, even though she got a little tired at one time.  WE had photographed Sharon and Jason’s wedding back in 2002 so it was gfreart to see tham again.  They were purchasing their negatives and high res scans so that they could archive them for their family history. This is something we are doing for any couple whos wedding was more than 2 years ago.

Holiday Cards

Posted on November 28, 2007

These are some Holiday cards we just designed for some families we photographed this fall.

Don’t forget the new link on our website to the “2007 Holiday Specials”!

Holiday cards

Julie and I are running a little behind right now in the editing of the weddings, but we are working very hard to get them on line as quickly as possible. The fall has been our very busiest time – photographing 14 weddings from the middle of September to the first weekend in November.  We loved every one of these and are very grateful.   I have been busy with album designs also to get out some of those those gorgeous albums in time for holiday delivery.  My blog updates are also a little behind because we are concentrating on getting out the main uploads, but will try to catch up here also.

We have also enjoyed photographing some family groups and engagement sessions which will be featured here also.

We have a web site page live right now – in all browsers (that was a problem at first) that has some of the specials we have going on right now in time for the holidays.  We still have time to make reprints, and even Holiday cards.  Any order of reprints from the online proofing that is over $100 will automatically be discounted 10% by myself when I adjust the totals. Gift certificates are always a great idea also.

This is the direct link to the site – there is also a link from the main website to this that may be the easiest  way to get there.

Family Session

I have some great templates for Holiday cards that I bought at a seminar last summer – designed by Jennifer Gilman of Ohio.  They are so contemporary and often whimsical and can be totally customized to the images you want to use. Take a look at some of the designs I played with below.

I am updating my Specials web site page for all the new specials, Holiday Card designs, even new Gift certificates for Holiday giving.

I also have my personalized Stylart site back online for you to view Holiday cards using the prices stated.

On September 16th Julie and I photographed the darling little Braedyn while she was visiting at her Nandi and Pappa’s house in West Bloomfield., She is about 8 months old and the daughter of Ericka and Matt – whose wedding we photographed in 2004. She was coming down with a little cold, but we still got some great images. Look at that cute tutu and those big blue eyes!  We love working with and having such a great relationship with our former bridal couples and their families.

Julie Photographs Ella in Travers City

Posted on October 4, 2007

On September 12 & 13 Julie photographed the darling little Ella in Traverse City.  She had photographed her older sister Bailey when she was about 3, so now it was time for Ella.  Beautiful setting and such an enchanting little girl. This is Mike Staff’s daughter, the phenomenal mastermind behind Mike Staff Productions.  We recommend each other all the time because we know we can work together so well and we all do great work!

Family Session in Adrian

Posted on August 27, 2007

On August 17we photographed a family session in Adrian Michigan.  Cassie and Corey were a bridal couple we photographed a few years ago and this included them and there son Edison, as well as her brother Jason and his wife Emily and their son Jackson and their parents Barb and Gary. The beautiful property backed into a little stream and we had a lot of fun. We even got everyone into one big family photo as well as all the smaller family units. The special session with Edison for his first birthday photos was also fun and we  got a lot of great images.
