It’s working….

Posted on August 7, 2010

We finally figured out a big part of the puzzle to get the blog portion of this site working better.

Thank you so much to Chris Hebert who has been working tirelessly to help me make the blog portion of this website/blog work better. There is no real support for Wordpress – that is the hard part.  All my old posts (going back to 06)  are supposed to show up under the galleries – if the name of the category checked and the gallery name is exactly the same – well I was skeptical and worried about this – and knew it had to be easier said than done!  I was right – it was far from easy!  After a lot of research, detective work, coding repair and manually entering things to make the  move easier, she has succeeded to make it work .

Thanks bunches Chris -

Hope you ENJOY, let us know how you like it, we value any input.

I have not ben as active on the blog as I used to be. The Facebook Fan Page is truthfully more up to date right now – so check it out.  Will be catching up on some of the recent things we have been up to

Thank you

Wally

My daughter Julie Proudfoot and our friend Dawn Havrelock  attended the SYNC convention for Senior Photography in Florida.
Afterwards they were fortunate enough to  photograph Sarah and Chris in Ybor City for some romantic fun engagement images – in and around the city of Ybor.

What an opportunity – they did a great job and had a lot of fun.

We designed some folios of our work and entered them into the  Detroit Professional Photographers Association in April in the 3 categories – wedding, portrait and illustrative – for both Julie and myself – Wally.  These were 10×20 single image photos on a hard cardboard backing.  This is the same size as an album spread and can also be framed.  There were quite a few entries; they were judged by our peers and we will find out the results at the DPPA banquet in June.

We photographed another great engagement session for Kelly and Vince on November 2nd.  Although it was getting colder, we still had some fall color and clear skies.  We enjoyed the Rochester Park along Paint Creek in several locations. The great Sunflower wall behind Andiamos that we all love so much was great, we even tried some other interesting places around  it.   Then we tried a new location in Rochester close to the cement factory – we loved the tall grass. We are looking forward to their wedding on June 27th and Look forward to designing a sign in book with the best of these images.

We photographed a great engagement session for Kelly and Mike on October 29th. We met at the city park in Rochester and enjoyed the great fall colors and ended up at the back of Andiamos by the Sunflower mural.
It was a lot of fun and we look forward to their wedding July 18th of next year.

As we are working with and booking our couples for the 2008 wedding season, we are finding that many are interested in “Save the Date” cards and magnets etc. I have been working with some new design software to come up with some modern designs.

I am also trying to work out ways to be able to photograph some simple relaxed fun images right here in my wide front porch.  Courney and Matt were interested in this and we gave it a try – this time with a soft background I have.   I will soon be adding some white rollup shades.

Leslie and Dave Engagement Session

Posted on December 4, 2007

On November 11th we photographed the engagement session for Leslie nad DAve at the Henry Ford Estate.  Even though it was fairly late in the fall season, we were still able to find some great fall color.  They were game for going out on the rock ledge by the falls which made for some great images.  At the end we were fortunate to find a spectacular yellow tree on the road out of the estate which made for some more terrific fall color images.

Gretchen and Richard Engagement Session

Posted on November 21, 2007

Lat October 21st we photographed an engagement session for Gretchen and Richard. We started out at their beautiful home in Bloomfield Hills and then went on to a nearby park to enjoy the fantastic fall color.  The highlight was photographing them with his new blue Corvette.  Even their dog joined us at the end. The fall is such a great and popular time.  It was a lot of fun and always great to personalize sessions like this with the things that mean something to you personally. We are looking forward to their wedding next July.

Julie and I are running a little behind right now in the editing of the weddings, but we are working very hard to get them on line as quickly as possible. The fall has been our very busiest time – photographing 14 weddings from the middle of September to the first weekend in November.  We loved every one of these and are very grateful.   I have been busy with album designs also to get out some of those those gorgeous albums in time for holiday delivery.  My blog updates are also a little behind because we are concentrating on getting out the main uploads, but will try to catch up here also.

We have also enjoyed photographing some family groups and engagement sessions which will be featured here also.

We have a web site page live right now – in all browsers (that was a problem at first) that has some of the specials we have going on right now in time for the holidays.  We still have time to make reprints, and even Holiday cards.  Any order of reprints from the online proofing that is over $100 will automatically be discounted 10% by myself when I adjust the totals. Gift certificates are always a great idea also.

Erin and Shane met in Lansing when they worked as pages in the House of Representatives in Lansing. So an engagement session there was very special. They even had special permission to get on the floor of the House of Representatives. Julie photographed this with the help of our good friend and great photographer and mentor Claude Jodoin. Everyone had a great time and ended up with many fabulous images.  They even got much applause from people peeking out of windows when they were jumping on the steps outside. What a great idea. The weather even co-operated beautifully.

Sarah and Adam Engagement Session

Posted on August 26, 2007

On August 10th we photographed an engagement session with Sarah and Adam in Rochester.  From behind the new Park Place Hotel we could get to an old bridge over Paint Creek, we really enjoyed this area.  Then we drove to the Van Husen Farm where again the Paint Creek snaked through the property.  We loved the bridge and they took off their shoes and waded in the water- we all had a great time.

On August 9, 2007 Julie and I photographed an Urban Engagement session with Michael and Megan in Detroit. It did start to sprinkle while we were in the city but still managed to get some great shots at the Comerica  Park Tiger and Hockey Town.  We proceeded to Belle Isle and the weather was clearer. We enjoyed the old Casino Building with its arches and bridges and the lake close by. We ended by going to the tip of the island for spectacular views of the Detroit Skyline in the background.Michael & Megan

Julie and I photographed an engagement session with Patrice and Barry at the Henry Ford Estate last Sunday. Barry brought his own Model T, so we sure had fun with it.  It was extremely sunny so Julie was able to do a lot of very cool infra red images. We look forward to their wedding at the Estate this July 14th – coming up soon. We really love working at the Estate.

I photographed a great fall engagement session with Anni and Matt at the historic Mill Race Village in Northville.  The colors were awesome and we had so much fun. They were great and we ended up with a lot of fantastic images.  Looking forward to photographing their wedding next fall – October 6.  Hope the weather and fall colors are as nice then.

On October 14th Mary and Jeremy were in town for their engagement party at the beautiful Wyngate Golf and Country Club in Rochester.  We did some engagement photos just before the party began. The weather was very chilly but they were such troopers and we had so much fun.  We had our own golf cart to roam around the beautiful grounds – the lighting and the fall colors were great, they were fantastic and we ended up with a lot of awesome images.  Looking forward to their wedding  next March.

Last Sunday we photographed Amy and Ken’s engagement session at the beautiful Henry Ford Estate. Their wedding will be at the beginning of September.  We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the grounds.  We took way too many shots  as usual – but really ended up with some great images. I played with some special effects on a few – especially the “pencil” and soft pastel rendering. Lots of great black and white and sepia also.

On Sunday May 7 we had a great time with the “Urban”  engagement session with Nicole and Jacob – their wedding will be this August 5. We had a lot of fun photographing at the America Park Tiger, Hockey town and the Fox,  Campus Martius and the Hard Rock Cafe as well as the Riverfront and Hart Plaza.

This is a collage of some of the best of the images – you can see them all on-line on our “Event Proofing” section o the main web site.  There is no password needed at this time.
