It’s working….

Posted on August 7, 2010

We finally figured out a big part of the puzzle to get the blog portion of this site working better.

Thank you so much to Chris Hebert who has been working tirelessly to help me make the blog portion of this website/blog work better. There is no real support for Wordpress – that is the hard part.  All my old posts (going back to 06)  are supposed to show up under the galleries – if the name of the category checked and the gallery name is exactly the same – well I was skeptical and worried about this – and knew it had to be easier said than done!  I was right – it was far from easy!  After a lot of research, detective work, coding repair and manually entering things to make the  move easier, she has succeeded to make it work .

Thanks bunches Chris -

Hope you ENJOY, let us know how you like it, we value any input.

I have not ben as active on the blog as I used to be. The Facebook Fan Page is truthfully more up to date right now – so check it out.  Will be catching up on some of the recent things we have been up to

Thank you

Wally

Sunset at the Zoo –

Posted on July 5, 2010

Wally Spice Photography,  Wally and Julie volunteered  our time photographing the festivities and the  for

For the 3rd year in a row we volunteered our time to photograph for the Sunset at the Zoo Fundraiser June 18th.  It was a lot of fun and lots of great benefactors and people helping to raise money for our beloved zoo.  We also donated a session to the Silent auction – which brought in just under $500; the grand live auction raised $113,650!  Just like last year – we ended the evening with a thunderstorm warning and had to exit pretty abruptly. There was a tornado warning – and a little rain, but we didn’t get soaked like last year.

Happy St Patrick’s day everyone – ENJOY! I just got back from the Detroit Zoo and it was packed already – great day. I brought them more promotional fliers that I make to help them with their marketing – I l love supporting them – it’s a great place for a wedding and lots of other programs they do – “Say I do at the Zoo!”

We photographed a fantastic wedding at the zoo Sat for Suzanne and Flint. They were absolute sweethearts, so expressive, beautiful and so easy to work with – plus you were the best “dippers” we’ve had in a long time – so it really made it easy to them you look great. I really think we got some phenomenal images.  We were even able to get some great infra red images with all the sunny locations.

They met beforehand for their special meeting in the butterfly garden and we got to take a tram throughout the grounds of the zoo. The first and best stop was at the poloar bear exhibit and the Arctic Ring of Life – just phenomenal.  I was hot but not unbearable and even with so many people, we had no problems gettng right in (a gorgeous gal in a white dress always commands a lot of respect and attention).  AND – the polar bear was  active right above us in the ached tunnel – wish he would have stayed and played a little longer but we still got some awesome images.

Then it was on to the Giraffe exhibit and a stop in front of the lions.  We knew of a great bridge with a pond that we also took some great images by.  We all had so much fun.

Then it was on to the actual ceremony by the bear fountain – a beautiful site. The guests and then the party was chauffeured there in trams.   After that back to the main Nautilus building for a fantastic fun reception.

We were so thrilled to be able to put a short sideshow together of just a few of the romantic images, and have them play it in the theater there.  That is always a thrill for us and the guests loved it.

This is a link to my Facebook album which has about 60 of our favorite images

Julie and I came home from Florida just in time to photograph for the Sunset at the Zoo Charity Event – as we did last year. Our friend and awesome Senior photographer David Humphrey  Joined us this year.   We all offered our photographic services and enjoyed the evening. This year they were very organized and had us at specific areas with a suggested shot list. We even had our own “volunteer’ working with us that got photo releases signed anytime we had a group of people smiling for the cameras.

We also donated a session and some items for the blind auction on behalf of Wally Spice Photography and David also donated 2 session for his company “Masters Photography” in Flint.

The big main auction had to switched to the big tent with weather threatening and still did terrific. I believe they raised at least 100,000 just for that.

As the auction finished the rain really did start and we were all warned to leave because of a huge very severe  storm coming – and it did – rained so hard and so much lightning and thunder.  We were all very much the drowned rats when we finally got to the cars.

It was still a great evening, the rain held off until the end, lots of people still came, the Zoo still raised a lot of money and we had fun. It is great to help such a deserving charity as the Zoo. We love it!

Some photos soon to come!

Sunset at the Zoo June 20, 2008

Posted on July 9, 2008

June 20 of this year, on the summer solstice, the Detroit Zoo had their gala “Sunset at the Zoo” fund raiser for their benefactors and supporters. The Zoo stayed open into the late hours and it was certainly a great event and lots of fun.   Lots of major and regular sponsors, lots of food and beverage tents, live music from the great Jerry Ross Band, an intro by the anchors at channel 2, A live auction with phenomenal items to bid on, a silent auction, a sunset keys event, and frogs everywhere since this was the year of the frog.  Everything was donated by all the generous sponsors of the zoo.  We donated out photographic services so that they could have images for their marketing and we donated a “Portrait Session at the Zoo” to the silent auction. We even have a banner there all the time with one of our images from the event dining area.
We really believe the zoo is such a great cause and deserves our full support.  We sincerely appreciate their great referrals and give them any images they need for their sales and marketing.  We make up one of the hand outs they give to their potential wedding clients at the zoo – part of the “Say I do – at the Zoo” add campaign. This helps us both in promotion.

We were truly honored to be a part of this and really enjoyed the evening.

Kathy and Bill May 24th at the Zoo

Posted on May 26, 2008

Saturday May 24th was a beautiful, exciting and very memorable day for the wedding for Kathy and Bill at the Detroit Zoo.  The girls got ready at her parents home close by and then headed to meet Bill and the guys at the zoo.  It was a record breaking busy day for them and there were lots of people enjoying the zoo and the great weather.  We climbed into a tram and headed for sights in the main part of the zoo for our romantics and relaxed fun photography.  Family and the kids also had a great time. We visited the arctic ring of life, seals and the polar bear outside, the giraffes, and the lions and tigers.  Then we headed back to the Interpretive gallery to get ready for the ceremony scheduled for 6PM at the bear fountain.

There was a little delay due to an incident elsewhere at the in the zoo, but all was fine. The ceremony was beautiful and everyone enjoyed it – we had some more fun photography by the fountain with the family and wedding party groups and headed back for the reception.  It is always so great to see our slide show in the theater and everyone enjoyed this.

Needless to say – we all had a “roaring” good time!!!

This is a flash high paced slide show made form the best of the images shown at the slide show at the zoo, plus some that I added now that we could really see everything. The images were gorgeous – because we had such a  gorgeous couple, family, location etc to work with.  This link is to my collection of wedding ANIMOTO videos on my site (My “widget”)

Carmen and Sean, Feb. 16, 2008

Posted on February 29, 2008

Carmen and Sean were married on February 16th at the Detroit zoo in Royal Oak. The girls got ready at the Hyatt in Dearborn and then Carmen and Sean first saw each other in all their wedding finery in the Butterfly garden where we enjoyed some great romantics. The wedding itself was beautiful in the larger nautilus room of the Interpretive gallery. After some more great romantics outside the Zoo as well as inside we all headed to the Hyatt in Dearborn for a great reception. Everyone had a great time.

I have the collages below as well as a great flash video above this from the best of the images.
